Summer Workwear Inspiration
While I love posting about casual weekend looks and pretty lace dresses, in reality five days a week I have to dress professionally for work. With the warmer temperatures here, I like to put away my winter work clothes, and pull out my summer work looks. This usually means lightweight pants, tops, dresses and skirts. While there are many pieces in my closet that I wear to work year after year, I always like to add a few versatile pieces to my work wardrobe every season. When it comes to workwear, I like pieces that I can mix and match, so that I can have multiple looks out of a few staple pieces.
Ann Taylor 60% off Sale
Of course I always like to buy things on sale, and my favorite store for workwear, Ann Taylor, is offering an additional 60% off all sale prices (online only). I came across this adorable gingham ruffle top and coordinating skirt at Ann Taylor one day when I was shopping at the mall(both are a part of the sale). This outfit was in their window display, and I instantly knew I wanted it for work! The gingham shell I think is such a flattering top. The gingham pattern is so classic, and the ruffled detail at the shoulders give this top a feminine feel. I am wearing it with a pencil skirt, but it could easily be styled with pants, or even jeans and shorts on the weekend. While at work I wear my white coat over it, so it still looks professional when seeing patients.

This tie waist skirt that I am wearing is such a versatile piece. It really is appropriate for all seasons too. The built in tie waist flatters the waist and really does add visual interest. I also love the flirty flounce hem. The skirt is made of a lightweight cotton/linen blend that doesn’t get too hot in the summer, but would be warm enough to wear in the colder fall and winter months. This skirt comes in petites, and I am wearing my typical 2 petite here. I am wearing it with a gingham top, but this skirt would also look great with this pretty pink tie sleeve top, this tie back ruffle sweater, or this floral scarf flutter top
My black block heel sandals are on repeat here, as these are some of my favorite summer sandals! And my DeMellier Mini Berlin bag works so well with this look.
