There is Still Time To Shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

It’s hard to believe there are just six days left to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Between now and August 5 you still have time to shop the biggest sale of the season. I am making it a point to share several of my favorite purchases from the sale, right until the end of the sale. One of my favorite classic pieces is the J. Crew Dover Blazer. A nice blazer is one of those staple pieces that will be in style year after year. J. Crew is known for their fall blazers.  I end up purchasing one almost every year because I love the quality and fit. This year the Dover Blazer is being offered in four classic colors – black, heather graphite, pink and navy. While I love the pretty pink color, I opted to buy the classic navy color as you really can’t go wrong with navy for anything. I distinctly remember buying my first navy blazer as part of an interview suit. I had that blazer for years and it served me well, but I thought it was time for a refresh.

The J. Crew Dover Blazer is one of those pieces that is so easy to dress up or down. Wear it to the office with coordinating slacks or a skirt. For a more causal look as I am showing you here, wear it with jeans and a striped or solid shirt underneath it. This blazer does run a bit large, so I made sure to size down to a 0P for a more tailored look. The sleeves do run a bit long, but not terribly so. 

Frame Le Slender Straight Leg Jeans

Can I tell you how happy I am to see straight leg jeans coming back into vogue? I believe in investing in quality denim, as the overall fit is better and they last so much longer. The Frame Le Slender Straight leg jeans are no exception. I love everything about these jeans! First of all the inseam is 28 inches, which means I don’t need to hem them. These jeans are high-waisted, which works out great for a mom like me. They are very comfortable and  I love the trouser style pockets too. I am wearing a size 26 and these jeans fit so well. And at over $85 off the retail price during the NSale, these are a great buy for designer denim. 

To style this blazer casually, I wore a simple striped cotton button down shirt (similar here and here) underneath the blazer. To really add style to the look I added a navy fringed scarf. My scarf is old but this one is very similar.

More Coats and Jackets

Half the year it seems I am blogging about coats. I really can’t stand being cold, so I am always keeping my eye out for the latest and greatest coats during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I really love this pretty sea green coat by Kate Spade. J. Crew also has some really nice coats that are a part of the sale. This Olga Boiled wool topcoat comes in 5 different colors, and I especially like the winter pine color.  Every girl needs a denim jacket in her closet and this one by Madwell is under $85 (and is flying off the shelves!). Nordstrom has lots of suede and leather moto jackets this year. If you are looking for a nice black leather moto jacket, I really like this one by Caslon. I love the quality and the price of the BlankNYC suede moto jackets, and this year they have this one in a pretty brown and red color.  Kensie always offers stylish and affordable coats too. I purchased this peplum wool coat last year (see it in this post) and this year the same coat is offered in purple, red, and black. Finally, every woman needs a beige trench in her closet, and I really like this one by Ralph Lauren.
