Gibson X International Women’s Day Collection
International Women’s Day was last week, and this is such an important day for recognizing the achievements that hard working women have made over the years. For me, IWD is a way for acknowledging, celebrating, and empowering women who are strong, who aren’t afraid to achieve their dreams. I started this blog for many of the same reasons – to help women live their life their fullest. So when I saw that Nordstrom was teaming up with Gibson to create a clothing line designed to recognize nine different bloggers from diverse backgrounds, sizes, and ages I knew that this was a cause I wanted to support! Many of these bloggers I know and follow, so I was more than happy to support them by buying their designs. Not to mention, these designs are colorful, stylish and work so well for everyday life!
Gibson Hoang-Kim Tie Front Crepe Top
I’ve been following Hoang-Kim and her blog Color and Chic since I began this blogging journey. She is known for her classic and chic style, and always likes to add a bit of color to her outfits. She is a TV journalist by trade, yet she takes the time to blog to share her style and empower women to be the best versions of themselves. Hoang-Kim is a class act, and I love reading her blog!
I absolutely love this tie-front crepe top! The crepe texture is comfortable and feels nice to the touch. It has a touch of spandex in it, which makes it stretchy and forgiving. And the tie waist is such a flattering detail! I am wearing the lavender falls pattern, which is nice and bright for spring. It also comes in several solid colors, both pastels and brights. I like that this top works for both the office and for casual wear. This top is true to size, and I am wearing my typical XS.
This top naturally lends itself to pairing with white, so I am wearing my favorite Hudson white denim jeans. My Cole Haan grey suede pumps complete the look.
Gibson x International Women’s Day Ruthie Clip Dot Tie Sleeve Blouse
My friend Ruthie of Ruth Ridley Blog is behind the design of this adorable tie sleeve blouse. I’ve known Ruthie since the beginning of my blogging journey, and she is one of the most delightful people I know! She is like a breath of fresh air – kind, giving, cheerful, and it shows in her both her writing and her style! I love reading her posts, as they are always so insightful and she is always so down to earth. So I am just so happy for her that she had the opportunity to be a part of this collaboration!
You might think to wear this top with white, but I wanted this look to be more colorful. Yellow is the complementary color to blue, so I decided to wear these Loft mustard yellow skinny pants with the Ruthie top. I love how well these two colors go together!
As for the Ruthie top itself, I love the clip dot pattern as it gives this top such a unique texture. The material is soft, and the tie sleeve detail gives this top so much charm (just like Ruthie!). I am wearing the soft blue color, but it also comes in yellow. This top works for a casual look, but is dressy enough to wear as a business casual look too.
