April Showers…

For today’s post I am behind the camera instead of in front of it. If you follow my blog at all, you may have heard me mention before that I was a maternity, baby, and children’s photographer long before I became a fashion blogger. So it felt very natural to photograph my girls in their new rainy day outfits! Here in the Midwest you can count on plenty of rainy days in the springtime. This weekend we got a hefty dose of rain (and sleet, snow, and freezing rain on top of it). We spent most of the weekend by the toasty fire but we did head outside to give my girls a chance to splash in the puddles in their new Kamik Riptide rainboots!

My girls are often mistaken for fraternal twins, but they are actually almost two years apart. I’m glad I had them fairly close together. They may fight and bicker now, but I know when they get older they will become good friends. At this age my girls love spending time ice skating with their friends, going to school, and they even still like to hang out with their mom! They are always such a help to me, that I don’t know what I would do without them. Believe it or not these girls are usually behind the camera, not in front of it, as they take the vast majority of pictures for my blog. These girls have some serious talent!

Hatley Girls Raincoat Review

With all the rain we get, a raincoat is definitely a necessity in the spring. I wanted to get my girls a raincoat that could serve as an everyday coat. These Hatley girls raincoat hands down are the best raincoats you can buy.  The outer waterproof layer material is nice and thick and feels like quality. The inner terrycloth linning is very soft, and  this makes it a great coat for the spring and fall, whether it is raining or not. I would say though that this jacket this is not for hot rainy days because of the inner lining. It is perfect though for those 45 degree days (which we seem to have lots of those!).

The Hatley raincoats come in so many adorable prints that are perfect for girls of all ages (the largest size is a 12). They do tend to run on the large size, so if your child is in between sizes I recommending sizing down one size. They even come with matching rain boots and umbrellas!

I asked my girls to jump in the puddles and they were more than happy to oblige!

Kamik Riptide Rainboots Review

Just as raincoats are a spring necessity, so are rainboots. I have been buying Kamik boots for my kids ever since they were babies, as they are great quality for the price. The Riptide rainboots are the newest rainboot Kamik has made. These boots are nice and sturdy, and definitely waterproof. The fit is nice (not too wide or narrow). They look nice enough that if they wear them when it isn’t raining, they don’t look silly. Think Hunter boots for women. And my girls love the pink and purple colors! At under $35, these boots really do offer a lot for the money.

As always, thanks for looking!
