2017 In Review
So 2017 seemed to go by in a blur, and it is hard to believe 2018 is here already. 2017 was definitely a busy year, with my day job, my family, and running this blog. 2017 was a year of travels – to New York City, Chicago, and California. I got to experience New York Fashion week for the first time, which was an enlightening experience. On an earlier trip to NYC we even got to see Hamilton in person, which was nothing short of amazing!
2017 was the year this blog finally started to get noticed. I had the opportunity to work with so many brands last year – Simon Malls, Talbots, Ann Taylor, Macy’s, MM LaFleur, Meijer stores, Dove soap, and many more! No one ever told me just how hard running a blog would be, and it truly is a labor of love! I would be thrilled to have the same type of successes with this blog in 2018, and I am hopeful that this blog will continue to grow. But I also want 2018 to be the year where I have a better balance, as it is definitely a lot to run this blog with my day job (that I will never quit) and my family.
Barbour Hooded Jacket
Arctic temperatures and lots of snow have been here for the last few weeks. It’s not just in Michigan, but all over the Eastern US, and even as far south as Tennessee. So I am all about staying as warm as possible! The winter months can be so drab and uninspiring, so I decided to make things more interesting with a colorful outfit. This Barbour hooded jacket is more of a spring jacket, but by layering it over a Patagonia down vest and a cotton top, this jacket is actually warm enough for these freezing temperatures. Yellow is such a great color that is fun to wear, and it looks really nice when paired with blue. I bought this jacket and vest separately, but there is also this Barbour hooded jacket with a blue puffer vest included with it. This J. Crew factory top ties everything together with colors matching my jacket and my boots.
Gigi New York Amelie Crossbody Bag
Navy is one of my favorite colors to wear, so when I saw this Gigi New York Amelie bag in navy, I knew it would be perfect for so many looks! This vintage-inspired bag adds effortless sophistication to any outfit. I love how roomy it is and with separate pockets for my phone and other small items this bag makes it really easy to keep things organized. This Amelie bag is just as nice as some of the designer bags I own, at a much more reasonable price point. It coordinates quite well with my Barbour hooded jacket as the colors are complementary.
Hunter Original Tall Rainboot
I don’t often wear my red Hunter boots, but considering I was going for bold color with this outfit, these boots are perfect for this look. These boots are so comfortable and perfect for walking miles around the city. Since I am petite, I wanted to add some height with these boots, so inside them I am wearing this hidden heel. These clever shoe inserts add just enough height to make these boots more flattering on my petite frame.
Overall this is just a fun and colorful look for the drab winter months. I hope this post has given you inspiration on how to style this colorful Barbour hooded jacket. The Michigan Firehouse Museum was the perfect backdrop for these pictures too!
So cheers to 2018! Stay warm and as always, thanks for looking!

I love these colors together! And the layering looks perfect. I’ve always lived in the south so I am not used to the cold we have been getting the last couple weeks. I am currently in Houston and it even snowed here one night!
Love this whole outfit! Red and yellow really pop together. How fun. These photos make me desperately wish we had snow here in Dallas.
Wow, it seems like 2017 was fabulous and busy. I wish you all the best for 2018 and may you find the balance you desire. I just started this blog journey and I don’t know even know if I will be able to keep with my kids, full-time job, and other daily activities. I will make sure to follow you and learn some tips from you. Happy New Year!

I am absolutely adoring the play on colors here. Those gumboots go so well with the yellow jacket and red stripes! I wish we could get a little more cold weather in Australia it is currently burning! Glad to see you enjoying some time in the snow though!
