The Cable Knit Sweater Dress is a Perfect Fall Wardrobe Piece
Fall is in full swing here in Michigan, and for me this means jeans, jackets, and sweaters. I have always loved wearing sweater dresses, both because they are stylish for fall, but they are also very comfortable, especially for a long day at work. A sweater dress such as this one can be dressed up for work, or dressed down for a more casual look. Cream is always one of my favorite colors to wear, so when I saw this cream BB Dakota Cable Knit Sweater dress, I knew it would be perfect for me. This dress was actually purchased at Modcloth (for 25% off!) but it can be found at many other retailers. I am wearing an XS and it is still actually a bit loose on me. To make it more form fitting, I could also see this cable knit sweater dress being worn with a belt.
Since cream by itself doesn’t have much color, I added a simple plaid scarf from Nordstrom. To complete the outfit I am wearing these cute brown booties (Style&Co. Jamilia zip booties). These booties are so comfortable, well made, and very affordable. They have a zipper on each side, but only one is functional and the other is decorative.
A word about these photos – I actually took them all by myself. As the days get shorter, opportunities to take pictures in the morning or evening have become increasingly rare. So to make better use of daylight hours, I take pictures on my lunch break. To do this alone, I use a tripod with a remote shutter release. For the photographers who read my blog I use a Nikon D4, and my favorite lens for outdoor portraits is the 135 f2 lens. In this post though I actually used the 85mm1.4 lens as I wanted a wide view. The remote trigger I use with the D4 is this one (on Amazon). I use this tripod as well.
Setup is a bit tricky. I shoot in manual mode and I meter off the sidewalk to determine correct exposure (since it is close to skin tone). I aimed the focus at a pole just behind me and stood in front of it. The remote trigger is being held in one of my hands as there is no delay function. I like this trigger because it functions just like the shutter release on my camera – press half way to focus, and press all the way to take the picture. Overall the setup works fairly well but it is certainly challenging to do it this way!
Thanks for looking!
