Why I Still Love Shopping at the Mall

Even though I love the  convenience of online shopping, there is nothing better than being able to go to the mall to see and touch things in person. Literally I feel so inspired every time I go to the mall! It is so nice to be able to see outfits on a mannequin, try pieces on to make sure they fit, and getting the opinion of a stylist. You just can’t get that experience online. As someone who has been living in Ann Arbor, Michigan for years, where is my favorite place to shop? Briarwood Mall of course! I’ve lived in the bigger cities of Columbus, Ohio and Las Vegas, Nevada. Those cities certainly have more amenities, but when it comes to shopping at my favorite stores, Briarwood Mall has everything I need. Less than five minutes from my home, Briarwood Mall features 120 stores (including my favorites Macy’s, Von Maur, Banana Republic, Soma, Vera Bradley, Ann Taylor, Express, J. Crew, Loft, and L’Occitane en Provence). Briarwood Mall is definitely the retail hub of Ann Arbor!

 

The Must Have Blazer for Fall

As I said, I am always so inspired when shopping at Briarwood Mall. When I stopped into J. Crew I found this Going Out Blazer. If you are looking for a versatile blazer that can take you from the office to a night on the town, this is it! The sales associate I worked with was so helpful. If you shop at J. Crew regularly you may know that sizing can be tricky. I find tops tend to run very large, and I have to size down at least two sizes. When I tried on the 00 in store (the size I normally buy in J. Crew tops) it was just a bit snug so I sized up to a zero. Had I not gone into the store to try it on, I would have been stuck making a return because I had the wrong size.

I love everything about this blazer! The fit, the color, the design has classic style written all over it. And when you put on this blazer with a pair of jeans, heels and a stylish top, you will elevate your outfit from ordinary to polished and put together. This blazer offers a nice balance between professional and casual. Wear it with slacks and a nice blouse to the office. When you are ready for your evening dinner, put on your jeans and you are set! 

More Fall Blazers to Love

J. Crew V. Neck Camisole 

Polka dots are definitely in this season. I can see why too! So when I saw this J. Crew v.neck cami in a navy and white polka dot print I knew it would be perfect with the Going Out blazer. This adorable top (on major sale right now too) stands out on it’s own. However, worn under the blazer, this cami really takes this outfit to the next level. I received so many complements when I wore it!

FINE AND CASUAL DINING AT BRIARWOOD MALL

Every time we go to Briarwood Mall, it seems, we stop and get something to eat. We love the upscale yet family friendly dining that Briarwood Mall offers! California Pizza Kitchen offers a nice lunch menu and their dinner menu is very family friendly. Bravo Cucina Italiana has been a long-time favorite for our family, and the cozy ambiance and outstanding service keeps us coming back over and over again. PF Chang’s offers a tasteful Chinese cuisine in a relaxing environment.

Briarwood Mall also has a variety of smaller, more casual restaurants, including Chipotle, Salads Up, Sozo Japanese Grill and Tatsu Sushi. It is so easy just to grab a quick bite to eat for lunch with my family when shopping at Briarwood Mall!

So whether you are a longtime resident, or you happen to be visiting Ann Arbor, Briarwood Mall is the place to be!
