A Weekend Chicago Getaway

I would love to tell you that our family took a dream vacation to Mexico, Bali or Fiji. Alas that wasn’t the case. We did decide however to have a quick weekend getaway in Chicago. We were able to have one day at the pool at the very least. On the way to Chicago we spent the night in a hotel in St. Joseph Michigan, which the kids loved. Once we arrived in the Windy City, it was nothing but rain. And I am not talking about a sprinkle or two here and there, but a torrential downpour that went on for days. Thankfully we were able to do most of our planned activities – touring the local museums such as The Field Museum and The Museum of Science and History (see this post on how we do this). I had grand plans of taking pictures at some of the more iconic spots in Chicago. If I had brought rain boots and a raincoat that would have been fine, but poor planning on my part did not allow for this.

To make the most of the inclement weather, we headed to the Lincoln Park Conservatory (every major city in the Midwest seems to have such a conservatory – if even just for a small getaway to escape the weather). Little did we know however, that it was actually raining in the conservatory itself.  To make the best of the situation I just imagined it was a light tropical mist on a lovely walk through the rainforest. The perfect location to show you the Ce-Ce soft palms print wrap dress I bought for the summertime. A girl can dream, right?

Ce-Ce Soft Palms Print Wrap Dress

This pretty palm print dress is one of my favorite summer dresses! I love the subtle palm print and the flattering ruffle details. This dress is light enough to be worn on a hot summer day, and is perfect for a nice brunch or a casual get together.

For a midi-dress this pretty palm print dress is definitely petite-friendly. I am wearing my typical size 2 and this dress fits well. The tie belt at the waist adds a very flattering touch too!

To accessorize this dress, my favorite straw bag of the season is perfect! And some nice comfy block heel sandals complete the look. I think you can see the raindrops on them too!

Palm print designs have been everywhere this year. I can see why because who doesn’t want to have visions of a tropical oasis by what they wear or how they decorate their home? I love this adorable palm print top that would look great with shorts or jeans. And this palm print maxi dress is just as flattering as the one I am wearing here. I could see both dresses being worn with these adorable palm print earrings. As for the home, I can see putting this palm print pillow on an outdoor couch. And wouldn’t it be great to spend a day lounging in this outdoor daybed while reading a book? Who needs to head to the tropics when you can simply bring the tropics home to you!
