It makes me so sad to think about how absolutely freezing it is here in the Midwest right now. It seems to have gone from Indian summer temps to mid winter weather in the span of a week (at least it isn’t snowing!). As I write this post I can hear the cold wind rattling outside my windows. It is especially sad because just two days ago I was walking around San Diego in short sleeves. Because of this, expect to see me blogging about coats and such a lot more now and in the near future. There are so many nice coats available, that I really can’t complain about not being able to stay stylish in the winter. Which brings me to today’s classic navy peacoat post!
J.Crew Andover Peacoat – The Classic Navy Peacoat
I have worn peacoats as long as I can remember. There is something so classic and iconic about them, and they are perfect for petite women like me. I am glad to see them making a comeback this year! I had been looking for a good navy peacoat since early fall, and when I saw the J. Crew Andover Peacoat, I knew I had found my match! The gold buttons really were what made this classic navy peacoat stand out to me. This coat well-constructed of wool/nylon/and cashmere, and I do think it is worth the higher price (though it is on sale!). I am wearing a size 0 regular (not petite as I am rather long-waisted). I sized up one size because I knew I would be wearing layers under the coat. This coat comes in six colors. I love the navy coat, but the red and olive colors also look really nice.
This classic navy peacoat is perfect for work or casual wear, but here I am styling it more casually. I decided to wear it with this J. Crew Perfect Shirt in navy plaid, as the colors complement the jacket. Layering is a necessity for these freezing temperatures, so I am also wearing this J. Crew Factory open cardigan sweater. This is just a nice basic cardigan that is perfect for layering over lots of different pieces. Right now it is on sale for 40% off the sale price, and at just a little over $30 this cardigan is a steal.
Tory Burch Riding Boots
The Tory Burch riding boots are back again this season, and I took the plunge and bought them during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. This is such a great boot for casual fall looks and it is a classic that will last for years. The Adeline boot I am wearing is sold out, but the Sofia boot also looks very nice (and it is on sale too)! Tory Burch riding boots are great for walking around in all day (though I recommend wearing thicker socks and breaking them in for a few days as they did rub small blisters on my heels the first day I wore them).
Southeastern Michigan is just such a lovely place to take pictures. I am a photographer at heart (with the help of my daughter, of course). I am always looking for great locations to take pictures! The pictures for today’s post were taken at Zingermans Cornman Farms, a picturesque farm in Dexter, Michigan (a popular place for weddings). I can see why it is such a popular place as the large white farmhouse reminded me of the homes you would see on a Southern plantation farm. Such a lovely place!
As always, thanks for looking!
