As the cooler temperatures have arrived here in Michigan, I decided it was time for cardigan season again. Of course it hasn’t been so cold that people have needed to bundle up in multiple layers but something is needed just to take off the early morning chill. The cardigan I’m wearing here I actually got in the spring time at Anthropologie, but I think it is such a classic piece that it can also be worn in the late summer and fall. I love cardigans not only because of their classic look, but also because of their practicality. This cardigan is lightweight and totally my style because of it’s soft color and draping effect.  Unfortunately, it is sold out now but it is such a classic look that I found plenty of alternatives that look very similar.

As a busy professional with multiple young children, it can sometimes be hard to make time for photo sessions. I typically do my style sessions either in the morning, on weekends, and sometimes in the evening. This session took place on a recent Saturday. It was a funny thing about this session. I had actually planned to do an entirely different session earlier in the day but it was pouring rain the entire day. I was ready to call the entire day a wash, when I noticed that the sun was finally peeking out right before sunset. I put this outfit together with this Anthropologie cardigan, a simple white camisole and cutoff shorts with my suede booties at the very last minute possible. My new necklace from Baublebar came in the mail that afternoon as well,  and I put it on because I thought it really complemented the outfit. We ran outside and took the photos at the prettiest time of the day, during the golden 20 minutes,  which I think is the best time of day to take pictures. When I saw the pictures I was so happy with the lighting that the day ended up not being a wash after all.

Thanks for looking!
