How to Wear Navy and Gray
Navy and gray is such a classic color combination that is great for work or for casual wear. Navy and gray on their own can look rather plain, unless you take steps to dress up the look. The easiest way to do it would be to add a nice statement necklace to add visual interest. Mixing textures would be another way, such as pairing lace with a solid fabric or a cable knit sweater to nice navy slacks. Finally mixing patterns with a solid, as I have done in the look I am wearing, is another way to make navy and gray look stylish.
When I saw this plaid pencil skirt at Ann Taylor, I was instantly drawn to the sophisticated plaid pattern as well as the navy and gold color. I really thought about what to pair it with and in the end I decided to wear this navy cashmere turtleneck from Ann Taylor as well. The skirt and top look great together, but I wanted to add another layer of color to the outfit, so I am wearing it with this gray waterfall cardigan (that has quickly become my favorite cardigan of the season!). The skirt is a size 0P and the sweater is an XS as well (many times Ann Taylor runs large, so most often I do wear an XXS). I will say that as I was writing this blog post the skirt literally sold out as I was writing it. Fortunately, Ann Taylor does have a close alternative that you can see here. To bring the outfit together I am wearing this statement necklace from Baublebar. By mixing patterns, textures, and colors I was able to create a stylish look that is perfect for work.
