J. Crew Double Breasted Coat in Oxford

I can tell you I definitely have spring fever, but alas winter is still upon us here in Michigan. This J. Crew double-breasted coat in oxford check had been on my wish list for quite some time but I thought the price was a bit high when it first became available in the fall. The classic check styling I find is so classic and at the same time it is so distinctive. This coat is wool, fully lined and has an interior pocket that comes in very handy for little things such as lipstick or a small wallet. Much to my excitement, I finally was able to buy it at the beginning of the J. Crew winter clearance sale. This coat was still on sale for the last month, but by the time I finally was able to post about it the coat was sold out. If you really do like it though there are several NWT coats like this available on Ebay for an excellent price (and I will tell you I am a frequent E-bay shopper as I have had great success finding great prices on certain items).

This coat could easily be worn with pants, but I decided to wear it with my winter staples – a sweater dress and OTK boots. On my petite frame this look complements me for several reasons.  First, sweater dresses have a slimming effect on me and accentuate my long waist. At the same time over the knee boots lengthen my leg and the two together make me look taller than I actually am. Finally, most importantly this type of ensemble has the important function of keeping me toasty warm!

Winter Clearance Sales

Speaking of winter clearance sales, there are so many excellent sales going on right now with the major retailers. I’m listing a few of my favorites below:

J. Crew: All clearance items are an extra 30% off with code SHOPNOW. Striped shirts never seem to go out of style, and this one will carry you forward into the rest of the year. This petite ruffle trim shift dress is so classic and simple and would be perfect for a spring event. Finally this quilt down vest in white I could also see being worn in next few upcoming months.

Ann Taylor: All sale items are an extra 60% off with no code needed. This gilded bottom pencil skirt is in such a flirty feminine pattern and would be perfect for work. If you have been following my blog, you may have seen me post about this silk-cotton cold shoulder sweater that could also be worn in the spring. This wool sleeveless sweater dress would be perfect for a spring wedding or for Mother’s day.

Loft: Sale items are 50% off with no code needed. I love the soft blush color of this cable sweater. This petite diamond jacquard shift skirt would be a fun skirt for work. I absolutely love this lace medallion top (and I thought it was even prettier when it was available in pink). This petite pebbled knit peacoat is just so chic!

Banana Republic: Extra 40% off sale automatically applied at checkout. The feminine details of this pieced watercolor floral dress are just so pretty! I love the classic styling of this tweed shift dress that could be worn for most of the year. And finally this merino belted sweater trench is such a soft pretty taupe color and again would be perfect for spring and fall!

Happy shopping and thanks for taking the time to read my post.

  1. That coat is absolutely gorgeous!! I think I stocked up on too many coats for this Texas winter. It hasn’t been cold AT ALL!!

  2. I love J. Crew for their outerwear. The Oxford check/plaid coat is a gorgeous design! It pairs nicely with your classic black handbag and OTK boots 🙂
