We moved into our brand new home in 2014. I’ve had so much fun decorating my home as it really is a blank slate. For the most part I love our home, but I’ve already made a few design choices that I regret, so our home is in a never ending renovation process it seems. One area I am loving though is our basement. When we built the house in 2014 we did so with the intention of finishing the huge walkout basement. Thanks to my talented contractor Ray Vesey, I finally have the basement of my dreams. The space is quite large, so we were able to put in a second kitchen, dining nook as well as a living room, bedroom, bathroom and even a movie theater. It is a wonderful space for hanging out with the kids and entertaining guests. I love spending all day here when I get the chance!
My favorite spot in the basement is actually the kitchen. I tell my husband all the time that I like it better than my main kitchen, even though it is smaller. The light grey inset shaker cabinets with the white quartz countertop and farmhouse sink creates a classic and timeless look, with a contemporary edge. I just love the bright and airy look of a (mostly) white kitchen!
Serena and Lily Riviera Side Chairs
I have been obsessed with the look of the French bistro chair ever since visiting Paris in college. So I was happy to find that my favorite home decor store, Serena and Lily, carries an entire collection of French-bistro style dining chairs. You can just imagine yourself at a French cafĂ©, sipping on coffee and reading a good book with these chairs. I love the look of the Riviera chair next to a white table, as the classic and clean look is so refreshing. These chairs are handcrafted of lightweight rattan and woven plastic seats. This is great as my kids can be rough on furniture. While I am using them indoors, the Serena and Lily Riviera chair would look great on an outdoor patio setup (provided it isn’t raining).
How pretty are these Healdsburg napkins on top of my white plates? And these round raffia placements go so well with my white vintage table. Such a clean and refreshing look!

My kids always love to have fruit on hand. This farmhouse pottery wooden peasant bowl is the perfect place to store apples, bananas, and pears.
Since the kitchen is right off the patio, it is the perfect place to store and prepare food for an outdoor diner party. This Spinnaker tray is great for serving. It is a little heavy, so ideally I would use it outdoors as a place to hold and serve drinks. When I don’t have flowers I also use it as a simple table centerpiece.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of my kitchen and dining room. To me, decorating my home is just as fun as styling the latest fashionable look. I’ve always loved shopping at Serena and Lily for home decor pieces. Two of my kids rooms and my guest bedroom are adorned with Serena and Lily bedding. Their relaxed yet refined look of Serena and Lily decor blends in so well with my classic tastes!

I just LOVE decorating. I currently live in an apartment so I don’t have a ton of space to cultivate but I try to make the most of the space I have. Your home is BEATIFUL, I love the color palette you used.
This is a really lovely job you guys did! All the touches and colors fit so nicely together. And how nice to have another space like this in your home!
Thank you for sharing this bit of home decor inspiration 🙂

Love everything about this kitchen! Obsessed with French bistro chairs. I also have French bistro chairs and stools in my kitchen/dinette!
Omg! Love all of this. You did such a great job!!
Beautiful nook area! I am looking for a similar style for my dining area. Where is your table from? Are you able to give us a few links to similar ones? Thanks!
Daniela…Thank you so much! The table is actually from Wayfair and you can find it here (affiliate link): https://rstyle.me/+b6Z43mnVuCPuA2o3p8RtTg
It’s a really nice table and I love how it looks!
Looking for the table you have. Any suggestions?
Cary…I got mine from Wayfair but I don’t think they sell it anymore. This one is a good approximation:. It’s from Crate and Barrel. I don’t have it but I have lots of other Crate and Barrel furniture and the quality is always excellent!
Your kitchen and dining nook look absolutely stunning—such a perfect blend of style and functionality! A well-designed space makes hosting even more enjoyable, especially when serving refreshing drinks. Keeping ice from melting too quickly can be a challenge, but simple tips like using insulated containers and pre-chilled ingredients can help. For more useful tricks, https://bftech.pro/how-to-make-ice-last-longer/ has great insights on keeping ice cold for longer, making entertaining even easier.
Looking at a kitchen and dining nook makeover really highlights how small touches create a warm home atmosphere. Beyond the visuals, I thought about practical shopping experiences, such as those shared at https://bed-bath-and-beyond.pissedconsumer.com/review.html. People often talk about furniture quality, delivery timing, and customer service, which are critical when building a comfortable living space. It’s a reminder that behind every cozy corner is a chain of decisions about where and how we shop.
