One Coat Styled Two Ways
Winter definitely feels like it came early this year. I spent the week battling snow and ice on my morning commute every day. And twice the kids’ school was cancelled because of a transformer failure. Someone asked me once how I manage to keep blogging outfits when it gets cold outside. My answer is – to blog about coats! I really am not terribly interested in posing for a photo while being underdressed for the weather. Plus, coats are so fun to accessorize and they keep you warm! One of my favorite colors that I have seen popping up this season is emerald green. With my pale skin and blond hair, emerald green is such a complimentary color. So when I saw this Sam Edelman blazer coat, I knew I had to have it to add to my coat collection. I bought this coat earlier in the season and now is a great time to buy it as it is 35% off right now. If green is not your style this coat also comes in a pretty blue color, as well as more traditional black and gray colors.

A coat like this is so much fun to accessorize! In this first look I am wearing this Holtzweiler scarf. I love Holtzweiler wool scarves (see how I styled a different one in this post) as the patterns are classic yet distinctive. They feel like a luxurious cashmere scarf, yet are made mostly of lambswool. The colors in this scarf are perfect for fall, and I just love how it looks with my emerald green coat.

My sweater is a classic one from J. Crew. A cable-knit turtleneck sweater never goes out of style, so I’m a little disappointed they aren’t offering it this year. However I found this one on Amazon that looks very similar. With a brown bag and brown shoes this is the perfect look for a stroll through the park on a cooler fall day.

Eliza J. Fit and Flare Sweater Dress
Not only is this emerald green Sam Edelman blazer coat great for fall, but it is so fun to style well into the winter too! For this second look, I decided to style it as a green on green outfit. Styled this way this coat and dress are perfect for the holiday season!

I own many Eliza J dresses and they never disappoint. This sweater dress is nice because it is petite-friendly, and the thicker material is more suitable for the cold weather. Styled with heels this dress looks so classy and elegant. This dress is made of a very soft and forgiving material, and it is so comfortable!

Close up, you can see the elegant detail woven into this dress. For a more casual look style it with tights and boots (this is how I plan to wear this dress to work this season).

Ok, fellow pale, blue-eyed blonde here, and I’ve never tried emerald green. It looks gorgeous, I am going to have to find something similar!
I like how you managed to get a very casual look out of it and a very professional one as well. That color is stunning!
This is one of my absolute favorite colors to wear! Love the versatility in this coat with your looks.
I love the teal coat, it is gorgeous! It looks so cute both ways!
I am such a fan of emerald green, matches my eyes. Loving the style and fiber of this coat as well; great for casual to dress. Beautiful outfit choices.
I love the color of the coat and the way you styled it… Perfect for the fall.
Thank you Elizabeth!
This is such a beautiful look! You’re right about this whole outfit being so perfect for your coloring! The scarf and the coat and the purse…so perfect! (I’m in love with the coat and I hear you on not caring to be underdressed for the weather!)

You are looking fab as always. Very winter ready and I am loving that scarf xx
This is a gorgeous coat! You’ve styled it so well. I really love the white jumper in the first outfit.
Wonderful photos, you look stunning! You are very creative by trying out different outfits with one coat!
This coat is such a gorgeous color! I really love how you have shown how to style it two different ways.
That’s so cool that you can style it two different ways. I admit I think I love the dress version more. It almost looks like it’s part of the dress itself. But I think my daughter would prefer the jeans and scarf.
I absolutely love your style! All of these outfits are so beautiful and perfect for fall 🙂
