Summertime Blues…

 

Anthropologie Shannon Jacquard Dress

For anyone who knows me well, it is no secret that I love the color blue. Blue is such a calm and relaxing color. When I think of the color blue  soft blue sky, blue ocean waters, or a sparkling blue swimming pool comes to mind. I have incorporated the color blue throughout my personal style, both in how I decorate my home and the clothing I wear. So when I saw this Anthropologie Shannon Jacquard Dress I knew I had to have it! Nothing says summertime better than a floral sundress, and this pretty blue one is no exception.

I have to admit I am a bit late about posting this dress. I bought it several months ago when it was still in stock in all sizes. This blue sundress started to sell out quickly when it was offered as a part of the Anthropologie Summer Tag Sale going on now (25% off all sale items). I waited to post about it as I had envisioned taking pictures next to blue hydrangeas (obviously I love them!). It wasn’t quite hydrangea season however when I bought the dress.  When the hydrangeas finally did bloom there was not a blue one to be had for miles. Evidently it has to do with the pH of the soil (it has to be acidic for the hydrangeas to turn blue). There are plenty of white ones in bloom now, so I still was able to find the perfect picturesque location for this outfit. 

I love everything about this blue sundress! The color, the pattern the A-line style, and the empire waist. This is the type of dress that is flattering on any figure. The fabric is knit somewhat thicker than your typical summer sundress, but I don’t mind that at all. And it even has pockets!

A blue dress like this looks perfect with blue block heels. My BP blue block heel sandals are so comfortable and are available in many different colors. I also like these blue block heel sandals by Banana Republic.

But alas I don’t want to dwell on a dress that is nearly sold out. Other blue sundresses that have caught my eye this season include this Gal Meets Glam blue dress (it actually looks very similar and also has pockets). I love this Shoshanna Crocheted Floral Dress with it’s unique two-toned crocheted design. This lovely blue Yumi Kim floral dress is perfect for a warm summer evening (and is also part of the Anthropologie Tag sale). 

I received so many complements on this dress when I wore it! A dress like this deserves a summertime straw bag. My Doen straw bucket bag is one of my favorites from last year. I am sad to see that Doen isn’t making bags this year, but this one is very similar.
