MM. LAFleur Review

As a busy professional woman, I am always looking for timeless, classic, work-appropriate pieces.  I have always know that for a woman to be treated seriously in the workplace she has to dress the part. It can be incredibly time consuming to be able to find stylish yet versatile, work-appropriate pieces. I know most of the time I don’t have the kind of time needed to truly create the kind of look I want to have.

This is where MM.LaFleur has found their niche. Their core philosophy is “When women succeed in the workplace, the world becomes a better place,” and they truly mean it. I began hearing about MM.Lafleur since they opened business in 2013.  Their classic and sophisticated styles have always appealed to my tastes. MM. Lafleur was created by busy professional women who understand the needs of a busy professional woman.  Their goal is to help women face their sartorial challenges in the workplace, and to rethink the shopping process altogether. They understand how to bring style and substance together in harmony. This is a welcoming change to the shopping experience I have had my whole life. I had the pleasure of trying one of their bento boxes two years ago (in this post) so I was happy to get my second one this year! I was thrilled when I opened my box, as it contains everything I need for the workweek, and the quality and craftsmanship is impeccable.

MM. LaFleur Hoffman Blazer

The first look from my bento box features the perfect job interview suit. If there is one workwear essential you need in your closet, it is a black blazer. I can tell you I have been on so many job interviews in my career as a physician, and I’ve never been turned down for a job. It is so important to put your best foot forward, and be confident in the interview. Give good eye contact, sit straight, and give a firm handshake. But most of all dress the part. When I interview applicants the first thing I am assessing is whether or not they dress appropriately. The proper attire makes all the difference in the world!

So when it comes to a nice black blazer, this Hoffman blazer is hands-down my favorite blazer! This blazer is polished yet comfortable, and is perfect for that all important job interview or business meeting. The tailored silhouette looks good on just about any body type. With its classic lapel, and button closures, the Hoffman works for both business-formal settings—but it also looks great with your favorite pair of jeans. No detail is spared with the interior pockets and contrast lining. Sizing is true to size, and I am wearing a size 2.

MM. LaFleur Foster Pants

I cannot say enough positive things about these pants. Black pants are such a wardrobe staple piece, but it can be so hard to find a decent pair of black pants. These Foster Pants re made of a thick Italian-cotton blend that strikes the perfect balance between structure and stretch. Designed much like your favorite athletic pants, these Foster pants are tight enough to smooth and contour your legs, but they are intuitive enough to stretch where they need to. And they even have a concealed button in the hem, which is perfect for a petite woman like myself. It was such a pleasant surprise to discover the button, after I thought for sure I’d have to have them hemmed.

The Denevue Top

This drape panel top offers easy, sophisticated style to any office look. The relaxed, breezy fit requires no tucking or adjusting, and the drape front style looks polished and elegant. The champagne color I am wearing works well with black pants and a blazer. Pair it with jeans for a classy yet casual evening look.

MM. LaFleur Emily Dress

The second outfit from my bento box features this classic and timeless Emily dress. This dress is refined yet womanly, and it works well in a room full of suits. This is the kind of dress that will never go out of style, and is one of those pieces you will want to keep in your closet for years!

No detail is spared in the design of this dress! The square neckline is distinctively MM. Lafleur. With  elbow-length sleeves, useful pockets, a flattering A-line skirt this dress works for just about every body type. The dress is petite-friendly, as it falls just above the knees. I am wearing my typical size 2, and I probably even could have gone down a size.

Simple, yet classic details complete the look. My pearl necklace adds a touch reminiscent of Barbara Bush, and you can’t go wrong with this. The overall look is decidedly modern though, and is perfect for a day at the office. This dress is comfortable enough though to wear through the day and into the evening. And it is machine-washable too!

  1. Such great work wear! I don’t work outside the home so I won’t have a place to wear these outfits but I love them!

  2. i always wanted to do this experiment and i think i just may now.. to show you can make a decent avi with NO money.. this will probably involve a little avi BJs in latenight sims but thats the fun part of it.. lmao you guys should play sl like a game.. like the virtual reality edition of leisure suit larry xD p.s. im not sure what the body even looks like but there are a few new ones right now in MP for 100Ls.. its not the best but its also not system .. to me thats a step up.. and while im saying all this did you know you can update to a new SL avi:? they are mesh and i”ve heard bento but don”t quote me on the bento part.

  3. I’ve noticed that the way you dress, especially for women, has a lot to do with how serious others take you. I work from home so don’t have to worry about this much, but did when I was working full-time jobs.

  4. This might just be the first time I feel envious of folks who have to dress up for work! As a writer, “office” wear typically consists of a comfy sweater and a worn-in pair of jeans but these looks from M.M. Lafleur are absolutely lovely. What a great selection of classic, yet modern pieces!

  5. Wow. I love the outfits. I didn’t think anything could look better than the suit, but that blue dress is gorgeous. It’s so classy and it’s such a flattering look for you. Thanks for the ideas!

  6. I am in love with all these looks and my favorite is Emily dress. It is formal as well as chic…I need something like this in my wardrobe 🙂

  7. The dress has pockets! That’s such a bonus. I love having a well-tailored black pantsuit. It’s the perfect work outfit and can be worn so many different ways. These items look great!

  8. The suit was my favorite thing to wear when I was working, wearing it I also felt confident and knew I could do whatever it was I needed to do. Did these pants have pockets?? That is always something important for me!

  9. That blazer looks so chic! I like the drape panel top, perfect color for black suits. And your dress looks so good on, wonderful choices!

  10. I think the Hoffman blazer is my favorite of the outfit pieces. All of these outfits look very professional and great for fall.
