When It Is Still Winter (and Weekend Sales)…

They always say that March is in like a lion and out like a lamb. Living in the Midwest, this is definitely true! My friends in California, Texas, and the South are posting pictures of sundresses and shorts. Here however, we are still in the throes of winter. Snow is still on the ground and we wake up to freezing temperatures. As I said in this post, the best thing to do is keep your chin up and enjoy winter for what it is. At the very least, retailers are trying to make room for spring fashions, so you have the opportunity to buy winter essentials at a deep discount. And there some amazing sales right now!

Burberry Gibbsmore Wool Coat

As I’ve said before a nice black wool coat will never go out of style. My all-time favorite Burberry Gibbsmore wool coat sold out months ago (why they didn’t make more of this is beyond me). However there are several really nice ones that are still available. This wool coat by Fleurette is just as nice as my Burberry one, and is 50% off right now. The black is classic, but I also love the grey and camel colors. Fleurette also makes this wool wrap coat that comes in both black and grey. This Ralph Lauren wool blend coat would also be a nice option.  Finally this Calvin Klein wool coat with it’s dramatic collar and waist-cinching belt is feminine and timeless. 

Bloomingale’s Aqua Line

Velvet dresses have been a favorite of mine this season. This Aqua paisley velvet dress at Bloomingdale’s caught my eye so I bought it. This is a modern dress that is a nod to the 60’s. It is a nice transition piece from winter to spring. The paisley pattern is something a little different for a velvet dress but it definitely adds style! Dress it up with heels or booties, or dress it down with a denim jacket. This dress is definitely petite-friendly. I am wearing an XS and it fits perfectly. And at under $35 this dress is a steal!

Bloomingdales Aqua line of dresses has always been a favorite of mine. Almost all of their dresses are petite-friendly and require no alterations. There are so many styles now for both winter and spring, and prices are very reasonable.

This dress would look nice with heels, but given the colder temperatures, I decided to wear my Stuart Weitzman booties. You can never go wrong with Stuart Weitzman, and the Shorty bootie can be had at a great discount right now!

With spring just around the corner, retailers are having some great sales to clear out their winter styles. They are also introducing their spring styles. Sales to know about this weekend include:

These heathered navy Sloan pants have been on my wish list for several weeks. A good waterproof trench coat is a closet staple, and this classic one by BR comes in both beige and a pretty blue color.  Finally, this gingham sweater dress would be a great winter-to-spring transition piece.
